PS3 Drive-by

Walking to work this morning around 4:00am, I saw a lineup of eager, hopeful, geeked-out soon-to-be Playstation 3 owners. Although very cold and windy, they were huddled together camping in front of Futureshop with lawn chairs, flannel jackets, and glowing eyes. I wrote the odd time, placement, and smell off to a culture I don’t understand and continued walking. Sadly, in Lexington, Kentucky a crowd of people were not so lucky, in addition to confused looks from passing traffic, they also recieved a few rounds of BB’s (Yeah, bullets).
Basically, video games promote violence… right? I remember, as a child of about 5, my brothers and I saved up enough hard earned money to buy our very own Nintendo Entertainment System (complete with Duck Hunt); needless to say, I never played it much because my oldest brother was tough, aggressive, and a little to much into Mario for comfort. Stay with me, this has a very clear point.
In this cheerful farmhouse there also happened to be a gun or two (other than the one you plug into the NES), but for some reason we didn’t ever go as far as shooting each other over those boxy beige controllers. I write this off to stupidity, but haven’t experienced the awesome graphics of PS3 gameplay, maybe it’s worth it, but the real question is if the gamers in line gave up their position and actually went to the hospital?
For an interesting treat, google the keywords “PS3 drive by shooting” and see all of the news that has absolutely nothing to do with this story, yet contibutes equally to the problem.
